Description

1986 and later pickups and 4Runner feature larger vented rotors from the factory. Earlier 1979-1985 trucks used solid (non vented) rotors up front along with smaller calipers. If you’re installing a Toyota solid front axle on an 1986-1995 Toyota truck or 4Runner you will want to install a set of these vented Land Cruiser rotors onto the axle. With these rotors you will be able use your existing larger 1986-1995 IFS calipers. Slight grinding of the rotors backing plate might be needed, or you can install backing plate eliminators. Then simply install the IFS calipers right onto the solid axle knuckle using the factory caliper bolts. Don’t forget new brake caliper hard lines.

These rotors can also be used on 85 and older trucks to increase braking effectiveness, you will need to purchase IFS Brake Calipers.

Applications to upgrade from solid disk to vented disc are 1979-80 Toyota 4wd truck (6 hole) , and 1981-85 Toyota 4wd truck & 4Runner (8 hole).  Please verify what style wheel hubs you are using before purchasing. 8 Hole (81-85) rotors pictured. You can tell them apart by the way the rotors attach to the wheel hub. The early 6 hole style hubs are setup so that the rotor simply bolts to the backside of the hub with 6 bolts, and the wheel studs are only pressed through the wheel hub itself. The later 8 hole style are attached to the backside of the wheel hub by two bolts, and the 6 wheel hubs sandwich the rotor into the hub. Thus, the early ones only have 6 holes total in the rotor, and the later (more common) ones have 8 holes total.

Rotors are sold individually.
