Low range transfer case gears are essential for modern rock crawling. Our 4.70 Creeper Gear set the industry standard for Toyota aftermarket gear strength & reliability, but we wanted to make a stronger, quieter set. After many years of development & testing, we are proud to introduce the successor to our 4.70 Creeper Gear Set, the Trail-Creeper Pro 4.70 Gear Set for Toyota RF1A Transfer Cases.
The heart of this kit is the new Trail-Creeper Pro 4.70 Input Gear. We start with tool-grade SAE 8620 chromoly steel, heat-treated & case-hardened to produce wear-resistant teeth with a high-strength, shock-resistant core. Using proper spline design techniques, we’ve added two lubrication grooves to the splines. These grooves retain oil to minimize spline wear, galling, and coupler stripping, which are major contributing factors to broken input gear shafts. We’ve increased the diameter of the weakest part of the shaft by 17% to handle higher torque loads without failure. To top it all off, we are the only Toyota aftermarket gear manufacturer to use JIS Class 0 precision grinding to reduce tooth friction, resulting in a gear that transmits more torque and runs quieter than all other aftermarket gears.
The low-speed and countershaft gears are made from the same material and have the same JIS Class 0 precision grinding as the Trail-Creeper Pro Input gear to make the entire gear train in your transfer case stronger and quieter than anything else on the market. We also include new Japanese input & countershaft bearings along with all the necessary seals and gaskets to refresh your transfer case. As a bonus, we include our Trail-Safe output seals to prevent oil leaks even under the harshest wheeling conditions and a new Trail-Gear 4.70 shift knob for your shifter.
Available in your choice of 21-spline or 23-spline input gears. All 4cyl transmissions need 21 spline. 23 spline is only used behind a V6 transmission with adapter, or in the rear case of a dual setup if using a 23 spline coupler in the adapter. If you have any questions on fitment, give us a ring!

IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Disassembly and modification of the transfer case is required for installation.
- V6 applications require the chain-drive transfer case be replaced with a 4-cyl RF1A gear drive case and a V6 Adapter plate. Speedo cable, floorboard, drive shaft, and crossmember changes may also be required.
- For use in 1979-1995 RF1A gear-drive transfer cases only. These cases are found in 4CYL manual transmission trucks and 4runners only. These gears will not work in any chain-drive transfer cases.
